Why Study in Germany?
Germany combines tuition-free public education, world-class engineering, and strong career pathways — one of the best-value destinations for Indian students.
Zero Tuition at Public Universities
Most German public universities charge no tuition fees, even for international students. You typically pay only a semester contribution of EUR 150-350, which often includes a public transport pass.
18-Month Post-Study Permit
After graduating, you can stay in Germany on an 18-month residence permit to find a job matching your degree — one of the most generous post-study options in Europe.
Europe's Largest Economy
Germany is home to engineering and technology leaders like BMW, Siemens, Bosch, SAP, and Mercedes-Benz — creating steady demand for skilled graduates, especially in STEM fields.
English-Taught Programs
Over 1,800 degree programs are taught fully in English, mostly at the Master's level — so you can start studying before you are fluent in German and learn the language alongside.
Work While You Study
International students may work up to 140 full days (or 280 half days) per year, helping you cover living costs and build German work experience as a Werkstudent.
Safe, Central & Well-Connected
Germany is a safe, well-organized country in the heart of Europe. Your German student residence permit lets you travel across the Schengen area during your studies.

Germany Admission Timeline
German universities have two intakes — Winter (October) is the main one. Start 12-15 months early to comfortably clear APS, uni-assist, and visa steps.
Winter Semester (October)
Primary IntakeBest for:
Almost all Bachelor's and Master's programs — the widest choice
Key Tips:
- Start APS 10-12 months early
- Maximum program availability
- Aligns with DAAD scholarship timelines
Summer Semester (April)
Secondary IntakeBest for:
Selected Master's programs and Studienkolleg entries
Key Tips:
- Fewer programs — verify availability first
- Good backup if you miss October
- Visa appointments are easier to get
How to Apply
An Indian 12th certificate alone usually does not qualify for direct entry. Most students qualify via a Studienkolleg foundation year, a JEE Advanced qualification, or one year of Bachelor's study in India — then apply through uni-assist or directly to universities.
