NZQA-approved provider shortlisting
Eight universities (Auckland, Massey, Victoria, Canterbury, Otago, Lincoln, AUT, Waikato) and Te Pukenga (the unified national institute of skills and technology). We focus on NZQF Level 9 master's and Level 7-8 graduate diplomas.
Provider must be NZQA-approved and signed up to the Code of Practice for international students. We verify provider and program before any application fee is paid.
Visa fees and policy thresholds are reviewed periodically by Immigration NZ. Confirm the current figures with our team before any payment.
Offer of Place, IRN and tuition fee receipt
Once admitted you receive an Offer of Place. After paying the deposit you get a Receipt of Tuition Fees and an IRN (International Recipient Number). Both anchor the visa application.
We verify the Offer of Place line by line — provider code, NZQF level, course duration, tuition figure — before lodgement. Catching errors at this stage saves weeks later.
English requirements
Bachelor's at NZQF Level 7 typically asks IELTS 6.0 with no band below 5.5. Master's at Level 9 asks IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0. Specific programs (nursing, teaching, social work, law) demand higher.
PTE Academic 50-58 is accepted by most providers. We run prep at our VV Nagar branch — most engineering students prefer PTE for faster results.
Funds, insurance and visa application
Funds requirement: NZD 20,000 per year living, plus first-year tuition, plus return airfare allowance. Funds via FDs, savings, sanctioned education loan from SBI / BoB / Avanse / HDFC Credila, or sponsor evidence with their tax returns.
Approved health and travel insurance is mandatory for visa length. We compare cost (typically NZD 600-800 per year for single student) and inclusions, and lock the policy before lodgement. ImmiAccount visa form filed from our VV Nagar office.
PSW visa and Skilled Migrant Category PR
Post-Study Work visa is up to 3 years matching qualification length. NZQF Level 9 master's gives 3 years; Level 7-8 bachelor's lasting 30+ weeks gives 3 years; Level 4-6 diplomas give 1 year only if studied in a regional area outside Auckland.
After PSW, the Skilled Migrant Category Resident Visa is the typical PR route — points-based on age, qualification, work experience and shortage-list occupation. We map this from program selection so the qualification you earn maximises PR points.
